Special Team in The King of Fighters '97
The Special Team or also known as the '97 Special Team or KOF '97 Team, is a team made up of Billy Kane (Geese Howard's bodyguard and right hand man), Blue Mary (A private detective) and Ryuji Yamazaki (An assassin belonging to the Hakkesshu) making their first debut in The King of Fighters '97.
Concept[]
This team was formed through a survey of 3 video game magazines: Famitsu, Gamest and Neo Geo Freak. So the winner was this team, although there were in-game pictures in the magazines with the other editable teams.
Story[]
The King of Fighters '97[]
The team was made up of Billy, Mary and Yamazaki who advance to the tournament finals. First the New Faces Team put the blood riot on Iori Yagami to attack the winning team, when the team defeats Iori the Orochi New Faces Team decide to face the winning team.
After the 3 kings were defeated, the battle was in vain since Orochi already woke up in Chris's body, because of this Orochi mentions his revenge after 1800 years asleep and decides to dominate the world. Now the fighters must face him and Orochi was once again defeated. After Orochi's defeat, Mary continues to investigate Geese about the extent to which he had with Orochi's powers (After last tournament) and about her arrival with Howard. On the other hand Billy was congratulated by Geese (Although Billy did not fight with Iori) and gives him the reward just when Yamazaki arrives to collect the prize money, most likely Yamazaki still has the blood of the Hakkesshu clan perhaps to seek a fight against Geese.
This team appears in The King of Fighters '98, 2002 and the UM versions of the previous ones but they have no history.

Trivia[]
- Yamazaki is the only Hakkesshu still alive even though his other companions have died.
- Although it is a special team, it obtained less advance in the game.
- The KOF '97 and '98 each fighter has his own musical theme, in later games they have the same theme again.
- Blue Mary is the only woman since the NESTS Saga without Yamazaki and Billy.
