Sacred Treasures Team (KOF XV)

Sacred Treasures Team in The King of Fighters XV

The Sacred Treasures Team or also known as Three Sacred Treasures Team, is an alternative team made up of three subjects through its 3 clans: Chizuru Kagura (Yata), Iori Yagami (Yagami/Yasakani), and Kyo Kusanagi (Kusanagi). They appeared as a secret team in The King of Fighters '96 and in The King of Fighters '97 it was part of the 5 editable teams, and therefore in The King of Fighters 2003 it is the only alternative team. After a long time, in The King of Fighters XV it officially appears as a team composed of its original members.

Story[]

Orochi Saga[]

His first appearance is in The King of Fighters '96 as part of the alternate team (since Chizuru remains a secret character). On this occasion Chizuru was the one who organized the tournament of 96 in order to reunite the 3 Goenitz clans, which turns out to be one of the 4 Heralds of Orochi saw that Chizuru was there (after he killed Maki to free Orochi) he destroys the KOF Coliseum with his powers and in the end the three heroes manage to defeat him.

Kyo tries to defeat him with his flames, Goenitz discovered that he did not really use his powers well and apparently he is about to die. Chizuru says that the seal has already been broken and now Orochi will wake up after his 1800 year dream, before he explains to Iori that he must control his Yagami clan flames (due to the attack he made on Mature and Vice after being dominated by the blood riot) and the only way for him to control his anger is by defeating Kyo, once Chizuru explained to him, Iori drew his blood from Orochi. Finally Kyo says that if Orochi arrives with Iori he will destroy him but if he arrives with him then he will finish him off. Likewise, both retire.

In 1997 it made its second appearance this time as the main team of the game, and the three main characters can be selected unlike its predecessor.

When the Japan Team reached the semifinals they found that Iori Yagami and Leona Heidern were attacking some participants of The King of Fighters under the influence Riot of the Blood, once Kyo defeated Iori they both joined Chizuru again to face to the 3 Kings of Orochi (Yashiro Nanakase, Chris and Shermie) being the New Faces Team who intend to revive Orochi. So during an elemental fight of each team, the kings have been defeated. However, all was in vain, since Orochi was resurrected through Chris's body and after a battle, Orochi is finally defeated by the three heroes.

After a tough battle, Iori enters the blood disorder again, using Orochi to attack Kyo but he ends up attacking Orochi using the Orochinagi, while Kyo uses the Kusanagi flame to finish him off. After the sealing it is unknown what happened to the 3 heroes; Since Kyo disappeared a year later, Iori has since searched for his old rival after his disappearance and Chizuru returns to her temple.

After the end credits a woman's voice says "I'm waiting for you, Kyo" being Kyo's girlfriend, Yuki.

Dream Match[]

In The King of Fighters '98 and The King of Fighters '98: Ultimate Match this team can be chosen and an image will appear during the end credits.

Ash Saga[]

The group returns in The King of Fighters 2003 being the main heroes of the tournament, this time Chizuru with the mirror of Yata brings a Kyo with being Kusanagi as a weapon to face any of the KOF warriors. The team finds Maki Kagura (Chizuru's sister via the Yata Mirage) and a fellow named Mukai (a member of Those from the Past) who possess earth powers, has weakened Orochi's seal, and is ultimately struck down.

After what happened, Botan, a member of Those from the Past controlled Chizuru herself to bring both Kusanagi and Maki. When it seemed that everything was fine for the three of them even though the seal had been broken, Ash Crimson (the protagonist of the Saga) unexpectedly arrives and defeats Chizuru by stealing his Yata powers. Kyo angrily swears revenge against Ash, as he stared at Iori and claimed that he would be next on his list. Later Chizuru invites Shingo Yabuki to come in with Kyo and Iori for the next tournament.

In the Yagami Team finale in The King of Fighters XIV, they briefly reunite to seal Orochi who was resurrecting.

Once again for The King of Fighters XV they are back together but as an official team to participate in the tournament.

Trivia[]

  • Many players call this team by alternate names, such as the vigilante or the real Japan Team.
  • It is said that in The King of Fighters '98 this team was going to stop a genetic clone of Rugal that apparently had the intentions of obtaining the energies of Orochi. For unknown reasons they had to eliminate this idea and at that time they left it as Dream Match.
  • This team had no appearances in the NESTS Saga, due to Chizuru having stopped fighting in previous tournaments, until 2003.
  • This along with the Edit Special Team 2001 and the NESTS Team are the editable teams with in-game background.
  • In the manga "The King of Fighters G (Giga)", written by Ryo Takamisaki, which alternately narrates the events of KOF '96, Athena Asamiya is part of the team by replacing Chizuru in the final battle against Goenitz (who gave her Chizuru a fatal beating) and manage to defeat him.
